Welcome to SlipSplit, a restaurant receipt scanner that splits costs between diners using AI, developed by DarkMatter DevWorks. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read this privacy policy carefully. Information We Collect
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the application includes:
- Photos of Receipts: When you use SlipSplit's scanning feature, photos of your restaurant receipts are captured and sent to our AI service for processing. These images are processed in real time and are not stored permanently on our servers.
- Receipt Items and Amounts: The text, line items, and amounts extracted from your receipts are stored locally on your device and may be synced if you are signed in to your account. This data is used to calculate and split costs between diners.
- User Account Information: If you choose to sign in via Google, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture as provided by Google.
- Device Information: We automatically collect certain device information, including your device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and crash data for the purpose of improving app stability and performance.
- Advertising Identifiers: We collect your device's advertising identifier to serve personalized advertisements through our advertising partners.
How We Use Your Information
Having accurate information about you permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the application to:
- Scan and parse restaurant receipts using AI to extract line items and amounts.
- Calculate and split costs between diners based on scanned receipt data.
- Create and manage your account.
- Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience.
- Diagnose and fix technology problems and crashes.
- Deliver targeted advertising and promotional content.

Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services in our application. Each service may collect and process data as described below:
Firebase (by Google)
Analytics & Crash Reporting
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with our app, including session duration, screens viewed, and feature usage. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports, device information, and diagnostic data to help us identify and resolve stability issues. This data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
Google AdMob
Advertising
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the app. AdMob may collect and use your advertising identifier, device information, and usage data to serve personalized ads. Claude AI by Anthropic
Receipt Scanning and Parsing
We use Claude AI by Anthropic to perform receipt scanning and parsing. When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. The AI extracts line items, prices, tax, tip, and total amounts from the receipt image. The image is used solely for the purpose of extracting receipt data and is not stored permanently by Anthropic. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
- Photos of receipts are processed in real time by our AI service and are not stored permanently on our servers.
- Receipt items and amounts are stored locally on your device and, if you are signed in, may be synced to your account until you choose to delete them.
- Analytics and crash reporting data is retained in accordance with Firebase's data retention policies.
- Account information is retained as long as your account remains active. You may request deletion of your account at any time.
Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. Any information disclosed online is vulnerable to interception and misuse by unauthorized parties. Therefore, we cannot guarantee complete security if you provide personal information.
Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.
